ABS Golf Performance
Choose your platform below. Both apps keep rounds and courses on the device; iOS can use private iCloud sync, while Android offers optional sync through your own Google Drive. Each section applies only to that app.
App Store privacy summary
ABS Golf Performance does not send user data to an ABS Golf backend automatically. Data is stored on the device, while supported iCloud sync uses the user’s own private Apple iCloud storage. This private sync is not a shared community course database. Raw Round Trail points are temporary, remain local, and are cleaned up automatically when the app processes expired trails. Support emails, report sharing, and course-file sharing happen only when you choose to send or share information. Optional Rewrite runs on your device without an external AI service or cloud fallback.
ABS Golf Performance is an iOS golf performance app for managing courses and tees, registering rounds and scorecards, calculating handicap-related round context, reviewing performance summaries, and previewing reports. Premium users can also use Map Edition to confirm stroke and pin positions, maintain reusable course points, use optional location tools, and review calculated Club Distances.
The app may store courses, tees, hole data, scorecards, rounds, confirmed stroke and pin positions, reusable course points, your nickname, handicap settings, target profiles, app settings, report preferences, and performance summaries. This data is stored locally on your device and is used for app functionality, including reports and files you choose to share.
Location permission is requested only when you choose to record a position or activate Round Trail. At Tee, At My Ball, At Pin, and course-point positions are confirmed by you. Stroke and pin positions are saved as part of the round, while reusable course points are saved with the course. A position placed manually on the map is approximate. The app does not automatically identify lies, greens, or fairways from satellite imagery.
Round Trail is optional and starts only when you actively enable it. It is a temporary aid for manual stroke placement and never creates confirmed ball positions automatically. Tracking is limited to five hours per tracking session. Raw trail points are stored only on the device. Their retention period expires seven days after tracking stops. The app deletes expired trail data automatically when it processes saved trails; if the app is closed, deletion may occur later rather than exactly at expiry.
If iCloud is available and enabled, app settings may sync through iCloud Key-Value Store, and courses and rounds may sync through private CloudKit records in your own Apple iCloud account. Confirmed stroke and pin positions can sync with the round, and reusable course points can sync with the course. Raw Round Trail points remain local to the device and do not sync. ABS Golf does not receive this data automatically, and the data is not published to an ABS Golf-operated shared community course database.
Reports and course files are shared through the iOS share sheet or email only when you choose to share them with selected recipients or services. The app does not publish them automatically or provide a public feed. Shared copies are handled by the recipients and services you select and are subject to their data-handling practices. Support or issue reports are also user-initiated. If you contact support, we use the information you send only to respond and handle support or feedback.
A hole report may include your nickname, the date, score, editable text, and a map showing recorded stroke and pin positions. Hole reports do not include raw Round Trail points or your phone's live location. Review the report and its location details before choosing to share it.
A course file contains course and tee data and coordinates for course points (points of interest, or PoI). It does not contain your personal rounds or Round Trail data. Sharing a course file is your choice and does not publish it to a shared community database.
When available, the optional Rewrite feature uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to draft text from facts about the current hole. Your nickname, raw coordinates, trail data, other rounds, and text you have edited are not provided to the model. Rewrite does not use an external AI service or a cloud fallback. You must review the draft and make any needed corrections before sharing it.
ABS Golf does not automatically collect your rounds, courses, tees, handicap values, scorecards, confirmed stroke, pin, or course-point positions, raw Round Trail points, performance summaries, reports, or app settings. The app does not require an ABS Golf account.
The app does not use tracking, advertising, analytics, third-party tracking SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs. Location data is not used for advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking. No data is sold, shared with data brokers, or used to track you across apps or websites.
Apple handles Premium purchases and payment through the App Store. The app uses verified StoreKit transactions to determine Premium access.
This policy will be reviewed before feature changes affect how personal data is handled and updated if ABS Golf Performance changes how it stores, syncs, shares, or processes data. The latest version will be available on this page.
This section applies specifically to the ABS Golf Performance Android app. The app does not require an ABS Golf account. Google services are used only for the optional features described below. The iOS app uses Apple services; those do not apply to this Android app.
The app stores courses, tees, hole data, scorecards, rounds, confirmed stroke and pin positions, reusable course points, your nickname, handicap settings, target profiles and app settings on your device. ABS Golf Performance does not send this data to an ABS Golf backend.
Location permission is requested only when you choose to record a position (At Tee, At My Ball, At Pin, or a course point) or start Round Trail. Positions are confirmed by you and saved with the round or the course. A position placed manually on the map is approximate. The map is provided by Google Maps; when the map shows your location, Google's Maps service processes it under Google's terms. The app does not request background location access.
Round Trail is optional and starts only when you enable it for a stroke-by-stroke round. While it records, Android shows a persistent notification, so you can see and stop it at any time. Recording stops no later than five hours after it starts. Raw trail points stay only on your device, are never synced or backed up, and are deleted automatically after seven days.
If you turn on Sync with Google Drive in Settings, the app asks Google for access limited to a private app folder in your own Google Drive (not visible in Drive and not readable by other apps). The app cannot see your other Drive files. Your account email is shown in the app. The app keeps your rounds, courses (including confirmed positions and course points) and settings in that folder and syncs them when you open and leave the app, so another Android phone with the same Google account receives them. Deleting a round or course on one phone deletes it on your other phones at their next sync. Raw Round Trail points are never synced. Turning sync off withdraws the app's access; the copy stays in your Drive until you delete it (Google Drive > Settings > Manage apps > ABS Golf Performance > Delete hidden app data, where available). ABS Golf does not receive this data.
Android's own cloud backup is turned off for this app, so your data reaches Google Drive only through the optional sync above. When you move to a new phone with Android's device-to-device transfer, your rounds, courses and settings can be copied to the new phone; Round Trail points and the app's local preferences are not.
The optional weekly performance reminder is scheduled on your device and contains a summary calculated on the device; no notification data is sent to ABS Golf. Pocket mode uses the phone's proximity and motion sensors on the device to darken the screen during a round; the readings are not stored or sent anywhere.
Round and performance reports (PDF), hole reports (image) and course files are shared only when you choose a destination through Android's sharing tools or email. A hole report can contain your nickname, the date, scores, text and a map with recorded stroke and pin positions; it does not contain raw Round Trail points or your live location. A course file contains course and tee data and course-point coordinates, not your rounds. The app does not publish anything automatically. The on-device Rewrite feature of the iOS app is not available on Android.
Premium purchases, renewals, payments and subscription management are handled by Google Play. The app uses Google Play's signed purchase information only to determine access and never receives payment-card details. Google Play, Google Maps, Google sign-in authorization and Google Drive process data under Google's own terms and privacy policies. This Android app does not use iCloud, CloudKit or Apple billing.
The app does not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and ABS Golf does not collect analytics. The Google Maps SDK that shows the map sends usage, diagnostic and crash data (such as the device model, the SDK version and an SDK identifier) to Google to operate and improve the map, under Google's terms. Location data is not used for advertising or tracking. No data is sold or shared with data brokers.
Rounds, courses and settings stay on your device until you delete them in the app. To remove all local data, use Android Settings > Apps > ABS Golf Performance > Storage > Clear storage (wording varies by device). If Google Drive sync is on, turn it off first and delete the app's hidden data in Google Drive as described above; otherwise a sync can bring the data back. Shared reports and files remain with the recipients and destinations you chose.
